Pyramid Precision Machine, Inc. (PPMI) has been a supplier of close tolerance machined products and assemblies to High-Tech manufacturers in the Commercial, Gas & Power, Semi-conductor and Aerospace industries. PPMI specializes in low and high volume close-tolerance precision machining and manufacturing. At present they occupy a 23,800 square foot facility in the San Diego area.
To address the Aerospace and Defense Industries need for suppliers to improve their quality systems and to meet rigid requirements for product accountability and systemic control of interdependent manufacturing processes, PPMI embarked on redefining their quality system to meet the quality management system requirements for the Aerospace industry, AS 9100 Rev. B.
The AS 9100 Quality Management System (QMS) standard for the Aerospace Industry is a refinement to the primary, internationally recognized QMS model ISO 9001. Over the past two decades most viable manufacturing organizations have adopted ISO 9001 as a replacement to the now obsolete quality system military standards which were in effect in years past. The AS9100 standard, within its text includes the ISO 9001 document in its entirety; it then adds ninety (90) or so additional requirements unique to Aerospace Industry.
On 6/16/09 thru 6/19/09 Pyramid Precision Machine Inc. underwent a Stage 2 Audit Assessment Performed by BSI Management Systems (ANAB accredited) to the requirements of AS9100 Rev B and ISO 9001:2008. During this assessment BSI covered every aspect of Pyramid’s quality management system and found no areas of noncompliance or concern, the audit was completed with no findings written. On July 08, 2009 Pyramid Precision Machine, Inc. received its registration (certificate No. FM 547078) which will be in effect thru July 07, 2012.
PPMI typically employs one hundred (100) plus employees running three shifts per day. Their machining capabilities include eleven (11) CNC Vertical Mills eight (8) of which utilize fourth (4th) axis, four (4) Horizontal mills for large part application, twelve CNC Turning Centers with a swing ranging from ten (10) to nineteen (19) inches and one (1) Multi-Axis (seven (7) Axis)Turning Center (Mill-Turn). Utilizing the latest technology in the machining industry, with full 3-D off-line programming with fourth axis capabilities, PPMI is able to produce extremely complex, tight tolerance quality components at lower cost.
PPMI offers a unique service to its customers in that they provide a State-of-the-Art Methodology in Manufacturing, Inspection, and Data Collection to assure the optimum in Total Product Quality, Integrity, and Conformance. PPMI is also able to provide bar coding on shipments to their customers, upon request. PPMI’s suppliers are certified by Pyramid to meet quality, delivery and cost objectives. This coupled with their Lean approach to manufacturing allow them to provide their customers with cost effective quality parts that meet their customers delivery needs.
